Casper: Natrona County Marriage and Family Alliance Formed

Casper: A group of clergy and lay leaders have banded together to form the Natrona County Marriage and Family Alliance, according to an announcement by Terry Winship of Care Net Pregnancy and Resource Clinic. "We believe that strong and lasting marriages require thoughtful preparation and continuous nurturing and support," Ms. Winship said.

The Alliance worked with Faith Initiatives of Wyoming to draft and approve the Natrona County Marriage Covenant. The document was signed by 18 persons representing a variety of Casper church denominations. The purpose of the covenant is not only to help couples prepare for marriage, but to provide support through mentors and a variety of classes and training programs which help couples learn and apply tools that will strengthen their marriages.

The Alliance has available lists of resources for couples planning to marry. The marriage covenant suggests at least 4 months marriage preparation before the ceremony. This includes counseling sessions with clergy or others qualified and/or licensed to work directly with couples seeking to marry.

Regular community events will be sponsored by the Alliance. "We also plan to work cooperatively with local non-profit organizations and others as they present classes such as ‘The Five Love Languages,'" Ms. Winship said.
